for ! Sorry it's a bit boring, but it has fic to go with it. Well, I say 'fic'. More like drabble.

Anywho, here ya go:

Waiting

It was late, and Kurt knew he and Blaine probably should have left a while ago. The various workers at Breadstix were going about closing duties and cleaning up, shooting glances at them as if willing them to leave so they could go home. And really, they shouldn't have abused the 'can't stop feeding customers' thing to extend their time. But who could blame him? It had been a lovely evening - away from the Academy and getting to see Blaine in something other than that uniform. Just the two of them.

Above them, the speakers faded out and began playing a softer, pop song began to play. He recognized it as 'Tokyo' by Charmaine. Kurt made a happy sound - one he would later adamantly deny had been in any way a squeak, and whispered "I love this song!"

Beside him, Blaine smiled and whispered back "I don't know this one."

"Really? Well, now you will. It's such a sweat song." And, in the same quiet tones, began to sing along.

It really was a nice song, and Kurt lost himself in the catchy pop music for a while, letting his eyes drift shut. As it came to a close, he glanced back over at Blaine. The older boy's eyes were glued to his face, wearing the same enthralled look he had during Kurt's solo audition. This time, being so much closer, Kurt could see the faint pink blush on Blaine's cheeks.

Only years of practice at singing kept Kurt for pausing to gasp as he finished the last few notes. All this time Kurt had assumed Blaine just wasn't interested, given how he had made no moves that couldn't be placed under 'friendship'. After the disaster that was his pursing Finn, the brunette had no desire to try to force Blaine's feelings, and had resigned himself to yet another one-sided crush. But maybe that wasn't the case. Maybe Blaine was...

Waiting. For him to be ready.

The thought warmed Kurt's heart, and a goofy smile threatened to bloom on his face. Blaine DID like him.

Kurt didn't think he was ready to start anything right away. After the ordeal with Kurofsky, and his own actions in the past, taking a step back to put his life in order seemed much wiser.

But when he was ready, it was warming to know Blaine would be there.

Kurt didn't think it would be long at all, with that kind of encouragement.
